STEM careers continue to expand and are among the fastest-growing fields. PEF proudly funds STEM pro- grams for PVPUSD students in grades 6–12, providing engaging, hands-on learning opportunities in robotics, drones, coding, computer design, and more. As technology continues to transform the world around us, it is essential for students to understand not only how technology works, but how to use it to solve real-world problems. STEM education equips students with the knowledge and skills to think critically, embrace innovation, and prepare for future careers in an increasingly technology-driven world. At our intermediate schools, students can take spe- cialized STEM courses including Design & Modeling, Automation & Robotics, and Intro to Digital Electron- ics. They can also compete in the annual MATE ROV competition, an international underwater robotics challenge where teams design, build, and operate remotely operated vehicles to complete real-world missions. STEM: SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, Both Palos Verdes Peninsula High and Palos Verdes High schools have award-winning STEM programs. At PVHS, PVIT (Palos Verdes Institute of Technology) offers hands-on train- ing in electronics, robotics, video game design, fabrication and programming. PVIT exposes students to real engineer- ing problems that help them develop practical engineering skills. Competing against top teams from around the world, PV High's team earned 1st place at the 2025 MATE ROV World Championships, where students applied their engineering skills in real-world underwater missions.
