College & Career Center is vital resource at Peninsula and Palos Verdes High Schools provides students and parents information and guidance through the college application, admissions and ca- reer-making process. Our outstanding College & Career Center staff arranges for admission representatives to visit our high schools from over 100 colleges and universities, helping stu- dents find their fit. STEM SMERT (Science, Math, Engineering, Robotics and Technology) at Peninsula High School and PVIT (Palos Verdes Institute of Technology) are two of the most highly regarded high school engineering programs in the nation, regularly producing competition teams that oen place higher than university teams. ese programs have launched many of our graduates into presti- gious university engineering programs and produced standout employees and future leaders. Academic Counselors Counselors at the high school level help stu- dents and parents acquire necessary informa- tion to set goals and make decisions, along with scheduling and academic planning. More counselors keep district ratios at 350 students per counselor instead of the state average of 1:900. Student support specialists work with students to lead healthy and balanced lives. eir goal is to educate students on making healthy choices, developing effective coping skills and implementing interventions when necessary.
