Peninsula Education Foundation Many sources of informa on can all add up to informa on overload, not to men on misinforma on. We're clearing up some myths in the ar cle below, and we're happy to hear and clear up any others you've wondered about - within reason. Sorry, no informa on on Bigfoot, UFO's or Elvis Presley sigh ngs. PALOS VERDES IS A WEALTHY SCHOOL DISTRICT. MY PEF DONATION ISN'T NEEDED It seems unfair, but the truth is our school district receives less money than nearly all other school districts in Los Angeles County. PVPUSD receives approximately $7,200 per student while Los Angeles Unified and other school districts receive $10,000 or more per student. When you consider the quality of educa on provided, our district is doing a lot with limited funds. The inequity is not likely to change soon, and our children don't get a second chance at a great educa on. That's where your dona ons to PEF make a difference. PEF dona ons fund those aspects of a great educa on that California does not mandate or allocate funds toward. But these programs and people make a tremen- dous difference in your child's educa on now and in the years to come -- P.E. teachers, music, STEM programs, library aides, Safe School Counselors, academic counsel- ors, College & Career Center staff, and more. Plus, PEF funds $1.5 million in teaching posi ons - enough teachers to staff an en re elementary school. Can you imagine your child's school without these programs and posi ons? DONATIONS TO PEF DON'T IMPACT MY CHILD OR SCHOOL DIRECTLY Many parents donate to their school's PTA because they want to meet needs at their child's school. While PTA dona ons pay for supplies, field trips, and other on-site needs, your PEF dona ons also fund programs and staff at your child's school. In fact, PEF is the only en ty that can raise funds for salaries. This year, PEF is striving to raise $3.4 million! Of that amount, each school site receives roughly: Each Elementary school $180,000 (x 10 schools) Each Intermediate School $230,000 (x 3 schools) Each High School $419,000 (x 2 schools) PEF also provides funds to the Valmonte Sunrise program, Rancho Del Mar High School, Chuck Miller Grants for teachers, science fair funding, senior scholarships, and more.
