See the yellow bar in the chart below. It's just $6,112 per student, per year! That translates into: 1,112 hours of school instruction per year* 179 days of school a year $34.14 per day / $5.49 an hour There's no denying it. The PVPUSD certainly does a lot with a little but that's beside the point. Parents of children in public school should consider the state funding a starting point. That's a big change in perspective that not everyone is ready to embrace but PEF is working hard to get the message out to every school family in the district. There's so much more PEF could do for our students if every family donated. The cost of a college education is significant indeed! Yet, unless you're paying private school tuition, you really don't see the real cost of educating a child in elementary, intermediate or high school. Shockingly, it can be just as expensive as the tuition at our California public universities! Is it worth it? Yes and then some! Just look at our School Cost Comparison Chart below. Does Chadwick's $30,000 tuition seem like a lot? Take a closer look: 1,112 hours of school instruction per year* 179 days of school a year $167.59 per day / $26.97 an hour Broken down, those costs seem pretty reasonable. Just compare $26.97 an hour to the cost of a tutor ($35+) or even a babysitter! *Actual hours of instruction varies depending on grade level. 1,112 hours is an average for grades 6-12 in the PVPUSD.
