CHUCK MILLER TEACHER GRANTS In 1990, the Chuck Miller Teacher Grant program was created in honor of Chuck Miller – beloved Rancho Vista principal, PEF past president, and dedicated community leader. Thanks to his vision, PEF has helped teachers bring new ideas to life in their classrooms with projects that go beyond what traditional funding can cover. Last year alone, PEF awarded nearly $50,000 in Chuck Miller Teacher Grants to 42 inspiring teachers – supporting everything from decodable readers and classroom books to wearable circuits and hands-on learning tools. These grants honor the creativity of our educators and the difference they make for their students every day. SKECHERS FRIENDSHIP WALK The Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk rallies thousands every October for a fun-filled cele- bration at the beach, where families and friends gather to walk from Manhattan Beach Pier to Hermosa Beach Pier and back in support of our children. Since 2009, the event has raised millions of dollars to support the Friendship Foundation and public education. In 2024, we had more than 3,700 registered walkers, which resulted in a check to PEF for $289,000 that goes towards our annual pledge to support our PVPUSD schools. We take great pride in our school district, as year aer year, we consistently have one of the most vibrant and robust turnouts.
