Senior Scholarships Science & Engineering Fair Daisy Warner's journey at PV High School was marked by her active involvement in Live from 205 for the past four years, where she was most recently a producer. Daisy's impact extended beyond her school's walls, as she also served as a guest speaker at neighboring schools, advocating for men- tal health awareness and the significance of seeking support when needed. Looking ahead, Daisy is set to attend SMU in the fall, where she intends to major in psychology. Each year, the PVPUSD Science & Engineering Fair celebrates the exceptional creativity and innovation of our high school students. This year, with an astounding record of 135 cutting-edge research projects, the fair truly exemplified the dedication and brilliance of our young scientists. The top winners moved on to com- pete at the Los Angeles County Science Fair and the esteemed Regeneron International Science and Engi- neering Fair (ISEF), the world's largest pre-college STEM competition. Your donations to PEF fund essential programs like this high school science fair, which ignite curiosity and celebrate academic excellence. By supporting these bright minds, you're investing in the future of our bud- ding scientists, providing them with the resources and opportunities to excel and make meaningful contribu- tions to the world. Some standout projects at this year's fair included "Developing a Piano Critiquing Algorithm Using Arti- ficial Intelligence" and "Optimizing a High Throughput Screen for Testing Therapeutics in a Novel Mouse Mod- el of Ataxia Telangiectasia." Thanks to your generous donations, PEF awards two $1,500 scholarships annually to senior high school students who are continuing their education at the post-secondary level. This year's recipients are Katara Chang and Daisy Warner. For the past four years, Katara Chang was a driving force on the basketball court at Peninsula High and most recently served as the varsity team's captain. Beyond sports, Katara lent her voice to the school choir and was also the vice president of the Mock Trial team, demonstrating her commitment to both athletics and academics. Katara will be attending the University of California, Berkeley, where she will major in applied physics. Katara Chang Peninsula High School Daisy Warner Palos Verdes High School
