Strong public schools anchor our community. The Palos Verdes Peninsula holds a tradition of
educational excellence and valuing its schools. Because of our engaged parents and community
members, we can continue to provide enhanced opportunities and programs that directly impact
our children's future success.
Today, all tax revenues go to Sacramento where they are distributed statewide according to a
needs-based formula. This funding formula leaves PVPUSD with a multi-million dollar funding gap
and fewer dollars per pupil than what is needed to provide the education we want for our children.
California ranks among the lowest in the nation in public school funding. At one time, our state was
ranked 5th in the nation in per pupil funding, but with the passage of Proposition 13 in 1978, the
funding methods for education in California were turned upside down. Now, after all this time, our
public schools remain underfunded.
Your support is critical to provide the enriched
education that we expect for our children.
