634 Beringer Private Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Magnum 2015 Containing the tiniest splashes of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this wine has a deep garnet-purple color and nose of plum preserves, baked blackberries and cassis with hints of menthol, sandalwood and chocolate box. Full-bodied with soft, seductive tannins and a lively backbone supporting the generous, ripe, opu- lent fruit, it has a decadent spiciness and great length. Robert Parker - 95 points Donors: Michael and Diane Suzuki Value: $320 635 Quintessa Red, Rutherford Housed in an Impressive Black Lacquer Box 2016 Brooding and serious right off the bat, this is the wine equivalent of the open- ing chords of Beethoven's Fifth: Tar, black licorice, camphor, and black plums with peppercorn. On the palate, its full bounty becomes clear with a deep well of blackberries, dark baking spices, star anise, scorched earth, and dried flowers. Robert Parker - 97 points Donors: Ted Simpson Value: $200 636 Belle Glos 'Clark & Telephone' Vineyard Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley 2018 This deep garnet wine has an aromatic medley of black cherry, marion berry, ripe plum and a hint of anise. Dark fruit on the palate with flavors of wild ber- ries, caramelized oak and cacao nibs, it is complemented by subtle notes of vanilla, cedar and a hint of lavender and forest floor. Rich and unrestrained, this wine's abundant fruit is beautifully balanced by firm acidity and layers of red and black fruit.
