PEF STUDENT AMB ASSADORS WHAT DOES PEF FUND? Elementar y School Music STEM in 4th and 5th grades Physical Education Library Aides Wellness Counselors Intermediate School STEM Programs Academic/Wellness Counselors Parent University High School Academic/Wellness Counselors College & Career Center STEM programs for SMERT and PVIT Senior Scholarships Science Fair District-Wide , PEF Funds: More Teachers $1 million of PEF's $3.1 million goes toward classroom teaching positions. Teacher Grants PEF's Chuck Miller Grants are awareded to teachers to fund projects of special merit and creativity that promise a unique learning op- portunity for students. In 2018, 36 grants were awarded to teachers for up to $1,500 each. New this year, PEF launched its high school student ambassador program. Six seniors from Peninsula and Palos Verdes High Schools were selected to be inau- gural PEF Ambassadors. These students serve as liasions between PEF and the high school community and help build awareness of PEF and its mission. "I have attended PVPUSD schools since Kindergarten, " said PEF Student Am- bassador Liana Korotzer. "As a senior heading to college, I know how fortunate I've been to go to public schools that often seem like private schools. I remem- ber being exposed to STEM activities in elementary and middle school, which influenced my passion for science in high school. I am looking forward to pursuing a pre-med major in college and possibly explore medicine as a career."
